A strong app, ready for a character of its own.
Turbo AI already had a strong product and marketing behind it. They came to us for a mascot and animations that could bring more character into the experience.
We created Turbo: a playful purple bird with plenty of attitude, a wide range of expressions, and a personality built around encouraging people to keep learning.
Fast, curious, and a little cheeky.
Turbo is quick on his feet and quick with a comeback. He’s confident, gets excited about progress, and has a sense of humor when things don’t quite go to plan.
That personality gave us room to make him expressive. He can put on sunglasses and look pleased with himself, settle down with a book, or react to a small mistake with an awkward smile.
The purple body, teal feather accents, and orange beak and feet give him a recognizable palette. His large eyes and eyebrows do much of the work when his mood changes.

A Turbo for different moments.
The pose and expression library gives the character a range of ways to respond.
There’s a celebratory Turbo, a disappointed Turbo, and one deep in thought. He can point something out, give a study reminder, or offer a thumbs-up. His expressions cover everything from curiosity and surprise to confusion and determination.
Together, these give the team a character they can use in situations that call for different emotions while keeping him recognizable.
Bringing him into motion.
Animation gave us another way to express Turbo’s personality through his movements and reactions.
We also developed reference views to keep his appearance consistent as his position changes. The guide covers front, side, and rear views, along with overhead perspectives and references for walking, jumping, and landing.
Details extend to how his wings work as hands, including pointing, holding a book, and handling smaller objects.

A character their team could keep working with.
We brought the design guidance together in a 24-page mascot bible.
It documents Turbo’s personality and palette, his appearance from different angles, and the poses, expressions, and gestures that make him feel like himself.
That gives future designers and animators a shared reference when they need a new illustration or animation, with the details already worked out.
One unmistakable personality.
